Transport Links
Transport links could not be better at the Harrow. Edinburgh city centre is only 7 miles away and is easily accessible by car, bus or train. Local Amenities
There are lots of options for a great day out for all the family in the local area. Kids will love a visit to Fort Douglas in Dalkeith Country Park, let them burn off some energy at nearby Ninja Kidz Action Park (formerly Ryze) or relax and see a film at the Odeon, Fort Kinnaird.
Give your wallet a rest and enjoy an almost free day out at nearby Vogrie Country Park with its extensive grounds, woodland walks and an impressive adventure playground. Or explore nearby King’s Park and Ironmills Park for a breath of fresh air.
If shopping is on your agenda, Fort Kinnaird and Straiton Retail Parks offer a wide range of shops and restaurants, and are both within a 15 minute drive.
History & Culture
For those interested in history and culture, in addition to the many attractions Edinburgh offers why not consider a visit to the famous Rosslyn Chapel? Founded in 1446 it is renowned for its extraordinary stone carvings, Gothic architecture and the mysteries popularised by The Da Vinci Code.
Or visit the award-winning National Mining Museum and learn about Scotland’s coal mining heritage through interactive exhibits and original machinery. You might even get the chance to speak to a real miner about what it was like to work “down the pit”.
Dalkeith Palace, Rosslyn Castle, Old Penicuik House, Crichton Castle and Newhailes House are first-class options for those who enjoy visiting stately homes and all are located within a few miles of The Harrow.
